Gratitude:
*Thank you Michelle and Alicia for coming in to run our class spelling bee on Wednesday, that was fun and very exciting. Reminders & info: *Skier IS, skiers will need an IS form on file to be able to sign themselves out to go to ski team. We have lunch at 11:25-12:10, then the skiers are leaving, so they will be missing a big part of the afternoon, so keeping up with IS will be very important. They will only be here for ELA, science, and math because of our early lunch break. It is the student’s responsibility to check the schedule and turn in their IS work, I will not be asking each student for their work, this includes Spanish on Thurs. afternoons. Important dates: *LP4 ends 12/15, so students will the have the final week before break to turn in any missing or any redo papers. *math module assessment Wed. 12/6, on lessons 1-11, we will review on Tuesday Inspirational quote: “ You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream. ”~Quote by Les Brown Update from Ms. Monica for Spanish Hola amigXs! !Saludos! K-8 students are learning about Puerto Rican holiday celebrations and music in Spanish class. Christmas is one of the biggest holidays in PR and I want to honor that by teaching students the beautiful culture of food and music that takes place for 2 whole months. "Parrandas" are festive caroling events which take place throughout the season. K-6 students are learning a few of the most popular songs (there are so many!) and we are planning to make some shakers to go along with them. We need spare empty egg cartons, dry rice and dry beans by Monday/Tuesday so we can make festive shakers. I"m planning a "parranda" the last week of school before break. I will organize the schedule with teachers. If you'd like to help with a fruit punch/ healthy snack, please email me [email protected] so we can organize and plan. The island continues to be in recovery mode so the holidays may not be as bright as usual. There are still people without power and clean drinking water. As of this writing some homes are on day 86 without power and water! If you would like to donate to my fundraiser, I plan to send solar powered lights and mosquito nets by mid-December. Thanks to those who reached out to me before my trip and donated money and sent good wishes. It was greatly appreciated. https://funds.gofundme.com/dashboard ¡Gracias y felicidades!
