Testing, testing, 1,2,3…
I wanted to send a separate email, so it does not get lost in the weekly email this week because of the importance of testing. Here is what the students will need on Monday and the 5 days of testing: Charged computers all 5 days Chargers for computers Headphones, we have some if they do not Water bottles Book to read Lots of sleep Healthy breakfast and snack Be to school on time Testing dates and times: *5 testing dates: starts daily at 8:40 3 ELA-Mon 5/14, Tues. 5/15, Wed. 5/16 2 math-Mon. 5/21 & Tues.5/22 Testing thoughts... These tests are 1 piece of the 500 piece 6th grade puzzle. Use this as an opportunity to get some data and results to discuss. This is like the race at the end of a long training season, the results may or may not be what the students and you want, but the students have got to try hard to be able to use the results. Going in with negative thoughts or stressed does not help in any way. This is 6th grade, so an opportunity to practice test taking to improve on if need. Testing is in their future, so using the results to either realize they need to work harder in the year or work on test taking if they worked hard and got all A’s, but the test does not reflect their knowledge. This is a challenge, not a problem to overcome and be proud of. Proud of their efforts or their results, but make sure they take advantage of this test. When the results come use them to celebrate or to inspire.
